Dreams

I rarely remember dreams, but I do have them often.  I find I am able to somewhat control my dreams as well.  Although they often prohibit me from doing what I want…   Sure my dreams can be a bit strange, but they are dreams and they are basically rides we usually just go with the flow with.  Here are some examples of my dreams.   There will also be follow ups with other dreams as I remember them.  There is a new category called Dreams.  :)

This dream took place primarily in my basement at Roman Road.  I was a teenager, and most of the time the dream consisted of a classroom environment where I was in a sort of class.  Mainly an art class.   I remember drawing maps and schematics, when I should of been drawing art, however it was okay since it was what I enjoyed to do.  I also remember planning and working on a model railroad layout.  I also remember 2 teachers, one was my french teacher from grade school, and another was another teacher from grade school who I can’t place.  I would flirt with both of them in the back rooms of the class, and their responses were hesitant reluctance.  There was also a fragment of the dream where one of these teachers was a paramedic or doctor, and she had to examine me in her office after I falsely complained of having an injury.  I could tell she knew I was lying, but she continued and seemed to enjoy it.

Tonights dream was about a IRL capture the flag game which takes place on the shores of a lake near a downtown core of a city.  However this was a natural shoreline, not a man made shoreline.  Regardless, there were 2 teams, and some of the players were actually also players on TF2*.  I remember having semi-perminant bases (read: blue tarps, set up as makeshift tents) set up in groves of bushes and long grass on the shore of a lake, and in some cases we left some semi valuable gods down in the bases overnight (i.e. a tablet PC for some sort of editing purpose).  As for weapons,  weapons similat to TF2 were used…  Unsure how that translated to real life.  I remember personally being a battle engie and setting up a turrent quickly in the other teams base… :P

*Apparently I lived in a apartment building near the shore, and so did a few players.  One of them was a female – we lived on the same floor…  I remember preparing for a big game, and she had a bunch of people for her team over.   Sadly that is all I remember.

Taking All Requests, Except Free Bird

It seemed, looking at comments and general reaction that the guide Roadwolf wrote was generally well liked and helpful, so I was wondering if there were any games anyone was stuck on or needed tips on.  If it’s something I have or Roadwolf has played we’d be able to help.  I’m almost embarrassed to say how many video games I’ve played through my life.

In short, anyone need some help?

TF2: Demo / Soldier Update

As I follow along on the latest Team Fortress 2 update, I can’t help think how the Engimatical from August is a prediction for this upgrade.  While, yes I was a bit off in my predictions…  Overall, the Engimatical seems to be coming true.

Engimatical: TF2

This update however seems to be the most enjoyable of all.  The comic series is amazingly fun.  Of course this update isn’t without its hidden pages, such as the ‘poopyjoe‘ page.  The poopyjoe page predicted the new rocket launcher, and the broadsword thus far.  I believe that the Bugle, Pick-axe, and Larate are likely as other weapons.  I also believe that there will be some sort of doomsday weaponry, perhaps as the final weapon awarded to the winner.   This doomsday weaponry will likely be a large AOE style explosion, which will infect players with a DOT or mini-crit biological disease.

I think the bugle will likely either give your team a speed boost for a short time, or cause nearby enemies to loose control for a short time.

I am unsure about the zeppelins.  As for the engineer being mixed into this update?  I kind of doubt it.  Although this is called an Engimatical, there is not enough time to toss the Engineer into the storyline.  And I think the name Engimatical was chosen just to screw with our heads.

Again, if you haven’t tried this game yet, it is amazingly fun for all ages.  If you are looking for a mostly mature, and fun loving server to enjoy the game on?  Check out my server at 72.37.228.194:27015

War, What is it good for?

There was a question on a website in relation to a computer game I have (Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising).  The question was “War, what is it good for?”

Apparently the best answer wins some neat stuff…

So I thought about it.  Originally I was just going to respond ‘Absolutely Nothing’.  But then I realized that is not exactly true.

“War” is deeply entwined into our primal past.  It is something we have always had to deal with, and sadly, something we will likely always have to deal with in the future.  Whether it be fighting over territory or resources, or fighting over beliefs, or even the war at home, on our city streets as the war on drugs, and domestic violence wages on with little progress.  Any sane person looking at that will likely not see any ‘good’ behind any such ‘war’.  War usually means fighting and death on both sides.  How can the loss of life be good?  When it comes down to it, it is not good.

That being said, wars which are started in order to try to restore civil rights to a countries population are the only wars being fought for a good overall cause.  To free people who have been living in terrible conditions.  The success of such wars will bring a positive outcome on the whole human race at the hands of the fallen soldiers who have sacrificed themselves for our freedom and liberties.

Wars fought for money, resources, territory, or religious reasons are all wars which will not move mankind forward.  The soldiers who give their lives in these wars usually do so in vain – even if they may not realize it.  Therefore these wars are wars in which the outcome is overall indifferent in the overall state of being of all mankind, and is therefore a pointless waste of life.

Terrorism and secular cults who do not technically control nations, however they do wage (usually religious) wars on various countries, fall into the previous category.  While they alone believe their actions to be ‘right’, they are not helping move mankind forward.  Therefore their wars are generally always self centered.  Those who fight these terrorist groups are trying to preserve peace and stability and prevent the pointless waste of life, so any ‘war’ which is waged against such groups is a positive step for mankind.

Apart from moral and ethical reasons, wars usually increase economies.  Industries boom, and unemployment usually drops to record lows as the need for resources increases.  Generally this is a good thing.  Wars have a history of moving our industrial, medical and scientific communities forward at a quicker pace then they would otherwise be working at.  Many great inventions in common use today, including the computer your using to read this email, were developed due to technologies developed during wartime – for use in wartime activities.  This was also true prior to the 20th century.  In fact I would reckon a guess that (at least) 80% of all major technological advances in history have happened, or are due to research which happened during wartime.

Therefore in conclusion, apart from the moral and ethical reasons, I would have to say that war is good for causing the development of new technologies to help us move forward and make our everyday lives easier.

Midnight Drives

I have a tendency to enjoy late night drives.  And since I am not really working, there is nothing stopping me from enjoying them at any time I wish.  The problem with living in Buffalo however is that the area is generally so boring.   Farmland anywhere within 2 hours.  See, I enjoy wooded paths, and actual wilderness.  But I am a crazy Canuck, so I guess that explains that.

That being said, there is still a lot to do in Buffalo for someone like me.  Patrol the highways, watch trains, patrol the side streets, cruise and keep an eye and nose alert for fires, drive through the ghetto…  Its all good.

As nice as it is to enjoy a drive alone from time to time, it is often more fun and entertaining when you can enjoy it with a friend.  Either in convoy or in the same vehicle.  Problem is finding a friend who likes being out at 2 am on a cold night…  :)

Often a tradition of late night driving is to visit Tim Hortons and other 24 hour facilities and purchase small snacks or drinks along the way.  While this often burns through money, it is something that just has to happen.  Otherwise it seems like we don’t belong.   It is almost like buying passage into the next stage of the drive.  Kinda funny how that works, but to me, that is the best way I can describe it.

Ah Fun times :)
